After the critically acclaimed debut album "Phanopoeia" (2008) out on Tesco Organization and the media book/soundtrack "Silence" (:Ikonen: media 2009), the new full length album 'Rockdrill' continues on the same path and mobilizes acoustic instruments (guitar, percussion, piano), voice, electronics and samples to create a unique and very epic sound monument in 11 parts. Vortex is named after a modernist British art movement of the 1920s called Vorticism, headed by Ezra Pound and Wyndham Lewis. The new album 'Rockdrill' is especially inspired by a sculpture called 'Rock Drill'by the Vorticist artist Sir Jacob Epstein (1880-1959). It was built according to his sketches in 1913-14 to symbolize 'the terrible Frankenstein's monster we have made ourselves into'. The sculpture had a huge influence on the Vorticist movement and inspired several cantos by Ezra Pound (LXXXV–XCV, Section: Rock-Drill, 1956). It was destroyed during the war and cast again in bronze in 1962. Epstein himself did not like the sculpture and decided to "save" only a part of the actual figure - not the rock drill itself. The concept of this album is to reconstruct the history, mood and allegory of this piece of sculptural art as well as its impact on modern art movements. A 12 page booklet adds rare visual documents to the whole.'Rockdrill' by Vortex is consciously caught between archaic and modern energies, between history and present. This truly complex album transcends the frontiers of ambient soundscapes in order to awake a nearly forgotten sense of beauty and grace within modernist avant-garde by using twisted rhythm patterns, pounding industrial percussion and fragile organic ambiance.Fans of Northern European post industrial acts will appreciate this album for it sheer power and atmospheric strength while sound art listeners will slowly uncover layer after layer of this many faced composition.

Over the years, E.G. has developped a unique and personal style that has influenced many groups and is increasingly moving away from the clichés of Industrial Music. "Our music is deep, powerful, primitive and hypnotic, using electronic instruments and new technologies", says Lanz. Brought to life in 2003, the Hungarian entity known as The Moon and the Nightspirit has since been crafting a distinct artistic signature, reflected not only in their music but also in the unique visual universe that illustrates their work. Ágnes, a skilled singer and multi-instrumentist, is also the talented lady responsible for the paintings which bring to The Moon and the Nightspirit's music a fantasy-setting populated by creatures that trace back to traditional Hungarian legends and folklore. These memories of times forgotten also echo through the lyrics written by guitarist Mihály, which outline the spiritual mindset behind the project. Such a combination has been greeted with growing enthusiasm since the release of their 2005 debut album on Equilibrium, "Of Dreams Forgotten and Fables Untold", and the early shows that followed, which included an appearance on Hungarian National Television. Later, and in support of "Regõ Rejtem", their second album, The Moon and the Nightspirit had the opportunity to tour throughout most of Europe. Playing in small fair markets and large festivals alike, including prestigious events such as Trolls et Legendes (Belgium), Wave-Gotik-Treffen (Germany) and Castle Party (Poland), the band shared the stage with names like Corvus Corax, Faun, Blackmore's Night or Korpiklaani, and gradually conquered a prominent role in the Pagan/Folk scene. For their 3rd album, "Ösforrás", the band prepared a stunning Digibook presentation, which masterfully combined music and artwork in an invitation into the primordial womb, from which all has sprung, a sacred place where all is one - comes together as an offering to the slumbering gods of the old forests, streams and stones. This new album from the J3 / S3 (formerly à;GRUMH...) combo is being released this summer of 2011 as a splendid CD under an artistic cover by Jerôme Nougaillon.
The duo had, aside the rythmic industrial carreer as "à;GRUMH...", had released several works of ambient dark industrial music : "Rebearth" in 1985 on Scarface records, then as "A Chud Convention" , the EP "Sorrow" along with Skynny Puppy members in 1986, followed in 1988 by the first nEGAPADRES.3.3. LP in the cult label Circle Records. After a short pause for inspiration, the duo had reunited for the widely acclaimed "Exstrophy Of Amphigouris" album on Hermetique Records in 2006.
This new album is a collection of 9 songs, all very dark Ambiant Repetitive Minimalistic Industrial music (A.R.M.I.) also Transe in parts, eight brand new compositions involving regular instruments and collages of sounds the band members have collected all over the world.
The ninth track is a reprise of their 1985 song "Ganja", that was the opening track of the "Rebearth" album, creating a sort of full Circle between our years and the past. The ambiances are extremely dark and cryptic, but the sound is both more complex and more mature than on the previous album. nEGAPADRES.3.3. Seems to have expanded both in maturity and depth, to commit this extremely powerful piece of dark industrial music.

PART 1 OF THE TRILOGY "DIE AESTHETIK DER HERRSCHAFTSFREIHEIT". The aesthetic dimension of this first volume is that of immediacy. This is made plain by the choice of the recording techniques used (throughout the entire production, Jerome Reuter used only analogue equipment) and the raw and unrelenting sound. It sings the praises of the birth of a revolt, born out of a fascination with action and resistance in itself. It is the pride in self-deter-mination, of resistance, because to resist means giving destiny a form (Camus). However, ROME does not present art which only devotes itself to efficiency: the music remains too experimental, too difficult to decode for that to be the case. "Free man, you will always love the sea" (Baudelaire): as is so often the case with ROME, the poetry of the sea ('The Merchant Fleet') crops up again here and there. The liberation and/or libertarian movement was never a coherent movement, because it never wanted to be a matter of demands, but of life (Landauer). Its nature is manifold and contradictory. Its essence is of freedom, therefore it can never be uniform. This finds musical expression on AUFBRUCH in the multifaceted, stylistically-differing arrangements: from haunting sequences reminiscent of audio books, to plaintive ballads and experimental industrial collages – everything is represented here. Originally released in 1979, 20 Jazz Funk Greats is Throbbing Gristle's pop-influenced masterwork. It's hard to believe the beautiful, conventionally-attractive Cosey Fanni Tutti on this album's front cover previously gave herself milk and blood enemas in front of a live audience. Additionally, the song "Hot On The Heels Of Love" is far removed from the dissonant nihilism of the previous TG albums. It's a sleek, minimal synth-pop song that foreshadows Tutti's later work as Chris & Cosey. Still, 20 Jazz Funk Greats is underpinned by a profound distance from accessibility. The breezy luminosity of "Persuasion" and "Six Six Sixties" is still marked with casual bits of distortion and absurdism. Preceding dark synth-pop (and everything else), TG's third album is far ahead of its time and still sounds as relevant as ever. Over nine years in the making, Tesco USA/NATO is pleased to announce that pre-orders are now being taken for the GOD BLAST AMERICA! DVD. GBA! was a three-day industrial music festival filmed September 28-30, 2002 at North Six in Brooklyn [now the Music Hall of Williamsburg], and the documentary DVD is scheduled for release on 11/11/11 at Public Assembly, directly next door to where it was filmed, as part of the Tesco USA 10th Anniversary Celebration.
Provisional description: "Having lost my dear friend and co-Producer unexpectedly to cancer in 2007 [James Elenidis, also responsible for DEATH IN JUNE LIVE IN NEW YORK], I considered the project shelved indefinitely. But earlier this year, the impending anniversary celebration became the inspiration to delve into the DV and DAT tapes and see what we had. With no experience, the bare bones of the trailer and only Jim's 20-minute VHS rough cut to work with, I decided to take on the challenge and have remained steadfast in my determination to complete it. With the help of some very talented and dedicated friends, this never before seen footage now clocks in at just under 4 hours - no bonus features, no extras - no room for anything but the meat! Tracks were chosen based on overall audio and video quality - with some bands, you get the whole set and others, just a couple - if it's not in there, there's a good reason. Some tracks came out raw and WYSIWYG, some have been meticulously edited to incorporate the original backing videos used by the band during their original performance, while others have taken on a whole new dimension. Like the 'glass dishes with tiny bubbles and imperfections' from Fight Club, any minor flaws are proof that this video was crafted by the honest, simple, hard-working indigenous peoples of... wherever, but overall, I think the enthusiast will be guaranteed a very satisfying experience from beginning to end. It's almost as good as being there."

BASIC CONCEPT: "Substantia Innominata" is the brand new release-series from Drone Records. We are proud to present this as a 10" VINYL series along with subsequent re-releases on CD. This new series doesn't focus on a special concept or ideology regarding the music, but on a certain theme. The theme for this 10" series is based on "The Un-known, The Un-nameable, The Un-speakable, The Un-thinkable, etc.: Various aspects related to "The Unknown". Basically the grey matter (psychic or physical, which are bound to result the same) surrounding us / within us, but can't be understood or recognized through the normal senses (though some may perceive it on a subconscious level). We could name it "The Unconscious". The chosen name for this series, "Substantia Innominata", was inspired to the fact that this Latin name represents a certain region of the brain which has unknown functions and remains a mystery for its role and existence. Therefore this name reflects well the intense fascination for this impalpable concept of "the unknown".
The invited artists for this series were asked to work around this theme, to let themselves be inspired by its abstraction. The artwork for this series will be created by the various visual & graphic artists. All in full-colour or silkscreen covers. The 10" vinyl pressings will come in an edition of 500 copies for each title.

HALO MANASH is the main project from the AURAL HYPNOX-family based in Oulu, northern Finland, known for powerful shamanistic / ethnic otherworldly drones. "Walkeus" comprises two pieces of dense ritualistic sounds based purely on ethnic instruments and voices without using any electronics, recorded on analogue reel-to-reel tape.
JARL (the drone side / solo-project of the Swedish Industrial duo IRM) is known for "pure sounding" overwhelming, at times noisy hypno-drones. The long track "Zero in Scream" uses zither-sounds in an innovative way.
B*TONG from Switzerland creates highly experimental pieces that seem to use all kinds of concrete sound-sources, leading into surrealistic drone-based journeys, always challenging and forming a very own musical dimension.

Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window' is the long anticipated new album by CYCLOBE. Essentially a duo comprising Ossian Brown and Stephen Thrower, CYCLOBE have created a thrilling and compelling collection of music, which moves effortlessly from realms of cavernous cacophony to moments of blissful delicacy.
The first new CYCLOBE music to surface since their 'death-concrét' missile 'Paraparaparallelogrammatica' (an album made in collaboration with NURSE WITH WOUND), 'Wounded Galaxies' showcases major new developments, with contributions from Thighpaulsandra (synthesiser/piano), John Contreras (cello) Cliff Stapleton (hurdy-gurdy), and Michael J. York (duduk/pipes). Together, they've created an immersive pan-psychedelic dream warren, rich in detail and surprise.
Album opener 'How Acla Disappeared From Earth' rides on celestial waves of shimmering synthesisers and vocals, with York's duduk providing rhapsodic arabesques. The album's longest piece, 'The Woods Are Alive With the Smell of His Coming' (which was premiered in the United Kingdom at The Tate Gallery St. Ives, as a part of the exhibition 'The Dark Monarch: Magick and Modernity in British Art') is a 17-minute Pagan opus which fully manifests CYCLOBE's flair for endless invention, developing from a subtly shifting percussive motif, through multiple layers and dizzying cello crescendos, into a truly disorientating sonic invocation. Side Two commences with 'We'll Witness the Resurrection of Dead Butterflies (Three Moons)', in which Stapleton's hurdy-gurdy transmutes into a keening blizzard of sound. The haunting 'Sleeper', with its clustered piano chords and Brown's beautiful, disembodied vocals, evokes an elegant otherworldliness that's finally overwhelmed by the monstrous electronic paroxysm of 'Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window', concluding the album on surges of rapturous cosmic convulsion.
'Wounded Galaxies' front cover features a stunning artwork by the renowned American artist Fred Tomaselli, whose work has been exhibited at the Whitney and MoMA.
Thrower and Brown are well known for their work in the legendary group COIL (Thrower played on the band's seminal 1980s/early 1990s releases, while Brown was involved in their 21st century studio and live incarnations). Among other recent credits, Thrower plays in UNICAZÜRN and the improvising group The AMAL GAMAL ENSEMBLE, whilst Brown appears on CURRENT 93's recent, highly acclaimed album 'Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain'.
CYCLOBE's unique and complex sound-world has been developing and mutating ever since their debut album released in 1999 'Luminous Darkness' and its unearthly successor 'The Visitors'. With 'Wounded Galaxies', the group has not only produced their finest and most ambitious work to date, they've created an album which can stand tall with the year's most innovative and exciting releases. 'Vista' is the second album by this influential Dutch Cold Wave act, originally released in 1983, with Edward Gijsen and Cor Bolten (MECANO). It offers melancholic music with great orchestrations, sometimes coloured with oriental hypnotic sounds, maily on the track 'some-times' (in Arabia) – a song that a few years later was shamely covered by Belgian band Caravan, that turned the track in a well known, and very popular success in clubs. Pretty different from their first ìone and a half' album, relaesed in 1981, 'Vista' is more claustrophobic, less aggressive but still catching and is an excellent example for the high quality of Dutch Wave in the early 80ies. This re-release has been entirely remastered by Cor and Edward themselves from vinyl, as the original master that was once sent to France for a release on the Divine/Madrigal label has never been sent back... and the master tape ended up with a bank, when the label went bankrupt... The CD features the 8 original, carefully re-stored and re-mastered tracks (Audioglobe)
